My Film Poster

This is our final version of the film poster, which would be displayed outside cinemas and in certain film magazine such as Sight and Sound. I believe that this poster represents the genre of horror, both in the title itself and in the image of blood on a hand. It is a hybrid film as it is also a thriller. School is usually represented in culture as being a place for innocent, law-abiding people where children are provided with a safe environment. This is represented in the image by the school blazer. This poster shows a juxtaposition of cultural expectations merged together with the crime of committing murder with the innocence of a school student.

The colour that stands out the most is the red of the blood, which shows gore, therefore horror in the image. The school badge is also very colourful with blues and reds;this shows up against the dark blazer, representing the innocence, belonging and safety of school being corrupted by such an opposite image (bloody hand).

The writing at the bottom is in white as it shows up the best against a dark background; it can therefore be read easily, and its in a large bold text. It also connotes the innocence of the pupils. The title is in a font that is easily read as it too is in bold and white, but to convey a sense of horror by the way the writing looks scratched, almost like really old wood.Hopefully when people look at this poster they can tell just by the title and the appearance of the title and especially by the image that it is in fact a horror/thriller film.
